San Cataldo is a city of nearly 23,000 inhabitants located in the province of Caltanissetta at 625m asl. It was founded in the early 1600s by Nicolò Galletti on a former hamlet. The extracting and mining industries, especially in the 19th century, here have played an important economic role. Some charming events take place during the Holy Week.
